Recently, one of our UK team members, Tom Fitzgerald, was on-site with a client to help them solve a tricky issue. They were working to a tight deadline and needed more control over the power supplies for one of our magnets. Their requirements had changed since the system was originally designed, and they needed a way to fine-tune the magnetic field values.
A Quick Turnaround and a Practical Fix
Understanding the urgency, Tom arranged a site visit at short notice. After diagnosing the problem, he installed a new control unit that gave the client the flexibility they needed. But it wasn’t just about swapping out hardware, Tom also took the time to walk them through how to use the new system, making sure they were confident in operating it.

A Better, More Flexible System
By the end of the visit, the client had exactly what they needed: greater control over the power supplies, a cleaner and easier-to-use interface, and the ability to reach the required field strengths for their experiments. In fact, they found the magnet’s field uniformity was even better than expected.
