Championing Fusion Innovation: Meeting with the office of the Governor of New Mexico

Earlier this month, Woodruff Engineering had the honor of meeting Travis Kellerman, Senior Climate Policy Advisor, at the Governor of New Mexico’s Office as part of the Fusion Igniter initiative, an important step forward for the future of fusion energy and for the communities supporting its development.

Representing the fusion supply chain alongside fellow innovators and partners, our team was proud to help highlight the unique opportunity New Mexico holds in this fast-evolving sector. With a strong scientific heritage, a skilled workforce, and a culture of technical excellence, the state is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in advancing fusion technology, from research and prototyping to manufacturing and deployment.

The conversation centered on how industry and government can work together to support high-quality job creation, technical training, and long-term investment, building the foundations for a sustainable fusion ecosystem in New Mexico.

At Woodruff Engineering, we’ve seen first-hand how demand for specialist systems and engineering talent is growing. Through close collaboration with local institutions and continued investment in our New Mexico team, we’re committed to doing our part in making fusion not just a scientific achievement, but an economic success story too.

We’re grateful to Travis Kellerman, the Governor’s Office and the Fusion Igniter coalition for the opportunity to contribute to this important dialogue, and we look forward to helping turn this shared vision into reality.
