Congratulations to our UKAEA Fusion Industry Programme students
This summer, we had the privilege of hosting eight talented students as part of the UKAEA Fusion Industry Programme. Based at the Harwell Innovation Centre, over the past eight weeks, these interns have immersed themselves in the exciting world of fusion technology, contributing to projects that push the boundaries of engineering and science.
For the initiative, we created a structured programme of learning to give a foundation and introduction to Woodruff Engineering projects and a greater understanding of how to develop results, all leading to final presentations. There were social events, and tours of local fusion facilities, plus, the students attended daily progress calls and provided a group call at the end of each week in which everyone shared a single slide with peers summarising their work.
On 8 August, our interns delivered their final presentations, showcasing the remarkable progress and insights they gained during their placements. Each presentation was a testament to their hard work, dedication, and passion for the field.

We are incredibly proud of everyone, their fresh perspectives and innovative ideas have not only enriched our work but have also inspired our team.’
We also want to thank the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) for their support and collaboration. We are extremely proud to be one of the organisations that takes part in the Fusion Industry Programme.
As these talented individuals return to their studies, we are confident that they will continue to excel and make significant contributions to the field of engineering. We look forward to seeing their future accomplishments and hope to welcome them back to Woodruff Engineering in the future.
